It is easy to make your own website free – especially if you just need a simple one page website or squeeze page. However, creating an effective squeeze page is a different story. Before you begin, you need to be aware of what constitutes a GOOD squeeze page. Let me explain…

They say that you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

THAT is why your squeeze page (also called a Landing Page) is so important. It is where your visitors land when they click on your link or url. It is where they form their first impression of you and your business. And it is where the relationship between you and them first begins to develop.

The sole purpose of a squeeze page is to persuade your visitors to part with their names and email addresses. It should contain NOTHING else which might distract from that ONE compelling call to action.

Never try to SELL anything on your Landing Page. Your visitor is still “cold” – he/she has just discovered you and will not yet trust you enough to buy from you.

Your visitors have arrived there because they have a problem and they are looking for a solution to that problem.

What you need to do is offer them a good quality free product which will provide them with a solution to their problem.

So, here is what your visitors must see ABOVE THE FOLD on your squeeze page (ie they don’t have to scroll down to see these things):

•	A compelling Headline.
•	An Offer to provide a solution to their problem with a free product.
•	An Opt-In Box (preferably in the top right hand corner).

Under that you can add a little content to remind your visitors what they are looking for – and another opt-in box at the end of the page.

There are certain aspects to web development that if you don’t pay attention to could end up wasting your time or worse making your website unusable. One of the first things you should have when starting your website is a detailed plan before you even think of starting on the development process. The detailed planning should consist of a specific strategy and a goal-oriented approach of your web design. The following are some of the steps that should preferably be taken in your web development process:

Always use clean code for the web pages for any website design. Set validation standards and though a few HTML and browser errors may appear your site will be much better positioned.

Your website must be secured. Look at the language that you are using to develop your website, and it is preferable that you should use multiple security levels for your project which may save your website from hacking in the future, involving further cost and time.

Deploy the right framework. Your detailed planning should include the right framework considering your budget and the traffic that you would be expecting. Look into the latest technologies available which mostly offer higher traffic at the best prices. This provides an overall best outcome for your website.

Consider backups. Your website design should consider an error management system, and this system should back up your data in the event of any unexpected crash.

Keep it Simple. Your design should be kept as simple as possible at the beginning, as otherwise complex developments may give rise to complex problems which may complicate your project. Your project plan should be based on realistic deadlines with your project tasks completed in time, which saves you energy, time and money.

Always original. This may sound obvious but your website design should be using original content that provides the people visiting your website with clear information related to your services or products. The descriptions in your website should not be confusing to the visitors, and use of exaggerated descriptions may stop people from visiting your website.

Help them buy. While designing your website you must take into consideration the factors which involve making the site user friendly. This will help customers to locate the products they want to buy easily while at the same time you should focus on aspects of your customers to achieve their goals, return and buy from you again.

Avoid Flash. You should preferably avoid animations and sounds, both of which are distracting to the visitors when they try to concentrate on reading what’s on your site. Blinking advertisements should definitely be avoided.

Avoid scrolling texts. Try not to use scrolling texts, which the reader may not be able to read at his own pace, or the reader might have to wait for the next line to slowly appear to be read.

Do not add pop-up windows. These may annoy visitors to your website. Annoying the visitors would mean that it is unlikely that they would be coming back again to your website for the second time.

Keep load times down. The website you have designed may look fantastic, but if it takes a long time to load, then few people will have the patience to wait till it loads. Your website design should consider this point seriously, and should not take more than 13 to 15 seconds to load.

Remember resolutions. Your design should take into account different resolutions. Most resolutions available in today’s computers range from 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768 and go even higher. Your website should be designed for all screen resolutions.

Make it compatible. You must ensure browser compatibility in your web design. Your website should look good in Netscape as well as in Firefox or Internet Explorer.

With these tips and a little elbow grease your website development should be relatively bullet proof.

Looking for a website designer for your next web design project. Blackstone Publishing will develop you a great looking website and can also help you market it.

The mystery of developing your own website has been removed with web building technology, but there are some who do not see the value in assuming the responsibility of personal web design. You may find it’s not remarkably different than setting up a social media page.

Here are some reasons to consider the personal development of your own site.

No one knows your vision better than you. You can explain what you have in mind to a Webmaster, but it will still be tainted with their personal vision of what you are seeking to accomplish. You might just be paying them significant cash to misunderstand.

You like to save money. The cost of personal web design may be 10% of the cost of hiring an outside firm to provide a site for you. You can probably find something better to do with the 90% you save.

You are willing to try new technology. If you don’t have a significant fear of technology you may find that developing the site can actually be a fun experience and the access to multiple tools can create a site that is more comprehensive than you ever expected.

You don’t like waiting for a Webmaster to update your site. Face it many webmasters are there for you until the site is finished then they venture off to assist new clients develop their dream. The difficulty you might experience is making future changes in a timely manner once you say the words, “It’s perfect, you did a great job.”

Radical alterations can take place quickly. If you make a decision to start a sale today you can adjust your site to reflect the immediacy of that decision. If you want to ad new content there is no waiting. You simply enter the user panel and revise as needed.

You like your site to be as current as possible. Customers like sites that are kept up to date so unless you have an in-house developer that can make those changes it might make sense to pursue options that allow you to take responsibility for how current your site is.

You hate waiting days, weeks or even months for a complete design. Some people who use this technology have a fully functional ecommerce site available within 24 hours of the first time they look at the software. Some have reported a website to their liking within 2 hours. How much money can be made in those days, weeks of months that you would have waited?

The satisfaction and pride of a job well done. There is a boost of confidence in those who personally complete the design. It can create an interest in developing secondary money making opportunities when the consumer knows they can create the platform for cash creation on their own. This provides the best sense of personal empowerment.

Web building is not the only method you can use to create a website, but it can be one that makes the most sense from a financial standpoint. It is less expensive to develop and maintain – and it is allows you to begin selling your product and service faster.

There are many things that make the choice difficult, since many of the providers are well qualified and their portfolios detail their vast experiences. Searching through all of those professionals can be tiresome, so it is important to determine a priority list, what is important and other factors such as allotted budget to help comb through those many firms and designers.

Considering An Off Shore Firm Or Designer

The blossoming of the internet has allowed professionals from around the world to offer services of all kinds. Of these are web design and while many of the off shore companies have well qualified individuals there are many other factors to take into consideration before making a final decision. Hiring an offsite provider or company can produce a good website and at a good rate in some cases, however there are some fundamental barriers that can cause serious troubles. First and foremost most of the overseas providers speak little English, and then it is often very broken. Now it might not seem like a big deal, but when it comes to communicating what is needed and understanding it can become very frustrating. Another issue with hiring providers or designers from overseas is the fact that the content and writings are commonly based around their own language, meanings and even clichés. This can make the site hard to follow, incorrect language or at minimum very poor, is that the message that a site owner wants to send?

What Experience Too Look For

Most web designers will readily detail their experience as well as provide samples of their previous work. This is generally presented through a list of built websites, references, education and specific skills that are possessed. There may be many skills that are listed, but here are a few to look for: design, graphic design, content writing, HTML experience, copywriting skills, Ecommerce skills, SEO and marketing skills, others might display programs such as Flash for multimedia integration. These are certainly not all of the skills that most web designers possess, because there are many more of which are highly technical, however just a few to simplify the search!

When it comes to building websites, the best thing you can do is to find ready solutions like turnkey website. These sites are usually ready to run so all you have to do is promote and make money. Check new turnkey websites store here

The question regarding the speed of a website should be raised sooner or later by every person who sets out to build a website. Fast-loading websites are more fun to browse, and they provide a better overall experience to the average visitor. This article will shed some light over the common reasons that cause a website to load at a crawling speed, together with tips on how to improve it.

First, we’ll understand the term “bottleneck”. In computers, a bottleneck is the thing that affects the subject the most, as systems tend to adjust themselves to the weakest link in the chain – finding that link usually gets half of the job done, leaving you with the simple task of getting it fixed. There may be several bottlenecks – in that case, you’ll just have to solve them, one by one.

Now, let’s understand some of the inner workings of the browser.

Once the address has been typed in and the “Enter” key has been pressed, the computer automatically performs a task called “resolving” that seeks out the actual location of the sought data, then establishes a connection to that source. The next obvious step is to commence the stream of data, “draw” the information to the local storage, and display it properly.

As some rehabilitation programs suggest, there are things you have influence on as well as other things you can’t affect. Let’s use this as a metaphor: given you use the latest version of your favorite browser, there would be nothing else to be done regarding the speed of it actually displaying the information. Taking into account the limitations of your web-connection, it is another thing you have little influence on (short of the possibility of upgrading your data plan…).

Luckily, as a website builder, you have direct influence over the proper construction of your webpage: the “cleaner” your code is, the easier it will be to the browser to “re-assemble” it after downloading it to its local storage. The lighter your media are, the faster it will be to download them. Let’s define a term for future usage – website weight, which would be the sum of all the data on a certain webpage. Clearly, “heavy” websites will take longer to load.

Correct website construction is the key.

Keep your code as light as possible (you might want to consult a professional website builder/programmer/SEO specialist for that matter) and it would load faster. Look at the code even if you’re not familiar with HTML: tidy code should look relatively legible to the “naked eye”, while a complex code will look messy, “wall-of-text-like”,

If pasting from different sources, make sure you “clean” the text of external settings (pasting it in Notepad beforehand might be useful) and keep your pages within a reasonable length – most people, unless reading an article, would dislike the act of scrolling…

Make sure you nullify the design changes before setting new ones to avoid situations in which a setting doesn’t replace the old one, but is being added to it.

Regarding the actual weight, make sure you don’t load a whole lot of images and animations right away. One might Google the term “website speed test” and run one of the many available tests on one’s website to get a rough estimation of its weight. 100 Kilobytes are perfect for a homepage. 500 could be fine as well, but pushing this number upwards may harm the overall experience of the visitor. You can also try compressing your images: most graphic software already include the option to save images “for web” – by lowering their quality to sane web-standards, opposed to the enormous sizes pictures come in when being downloaded from your camera, for example.

A common misconception is when resizing images. Many webmasters upload huge pictures, then display them in a tiny version. This does not actually affect the size of the image! You can display a huge image as a tiny thumbnail without actually affecting it. Try looking for both online and software-based “Resize” or “Resample” tools – these actually convert the image into a smaller one, reducing its size.

If you build a website, make sure you have multiple browsers installed.

Some are faster, some are slower, but having several will allow you to see the differences and seek out browser-specific optimizations.

Browsers are being updated often as well. One of the improvements that constantly appears on the release-log is ’speed improvements’ or ‘brand new rendering engine’. This shows you just how much the browser has influence over the speed of the website.

Lastly, make sure you do plenty of testing yourself.

Try different configurations, from different locations and different networks. Have friends to test your website and summarize their observations regarding speed. This is the most valuable constructive criticism you can ask for – as most people would not like to wait for their actual customers to complain. If all else fails, consult a specialist: overlooking such problems could be hazardous to your business in the long run.

You can make money on internet in 24 hours with a website. Having a website is very important to your business and here are 10 reasons why:

1. 24-7-365

You can have constant contact with your customers all day, everyday, every month, every year. No more worries about opening and closing, missed calls or holidays, your customer can reach your products anytime. You’ve probably heard “make money why you sleep” and this is why many people use website.

2. Diversify revenue sources

Your customers can be anywhere in the world and can access to your products. You can have more chance to sell to more people from different regions, countries. The economy on the internet is blooming faster than it ever is, don’t take this opportunity lightly.

You can also sell advertising space to other companies and websites. You can sign up for some affiliate programs and make money through their offers.

3. Cheaper and more flexible than print advertising

Print advertising has becoming more obsolete because it is way cheaper to get your ads on internet for your business. You can easily change it anytime you like without worry creating the wrong information. Your website can be accessible for a long period of time with less expense. A domain usually cost you around $7-8/year and hosting can be free to $9/month.

4. Convenient shopping from home

People shop online more and more everyday. We have become lazier as technology gives us that chance. Having your product accessible to you through a screen is much less hassle than driving your car through traffics and get lost. The internet is the self service medium which allows us to do things faster. Checking your bank statements online or going through hassles waiting in the line for 20 minutes at the bank?

5. Easy communication

This article helps you evaluate or justify the projected cost for your Web Development project. If you have been thinking about developing a web based application or even a simple website but are not sure about its costs then this article will help you come to a price range or even exact costs.

First and foremost it is important to know few technical terms. So I’ll try to give you one liners for help as they will provide clarity on costing.

Website – Collection of html pages. These are usually static pages with fixed contents

Web application – Any software that runs on a web browser.

Web Development – Any kind of programming done for a web application. There are few popular languages today e.g. php, aspx, jsp etc for programming a website

If you need an online presence for your company and need a simple and elegant website then it is very easy to evaluate the costs. The main portion of costing here is for designing a custom layout for your website and translating it into an html page. This cost varies depending upon who is designing it for you. It should cost you in the range of $75 – $ 200 at max for this work. Oh yes, there are few websites which sell ready made templates and they are as low as $50 for each template. Then comes the costing for inner pages on your website like ‘contact us’ page or ‘about us’ page. This should range from $10 – $30 for each page. This way, you can come to a very close estimate on what your website should cost if you need to establish a basic online identity.

The task gets tougher when you have programming involved on your website. This essentially means that you have few pages that pull data from the backend database.

The complexity of the programming needed will usually depend upon how big is your database and what are the dependencies involved between different sets of data.

On larger websites or web applications there are various components that contribute for its costing. The easy part is to separate out the static pages, which are like simple html pages with no database. These pages usually have fixed text or image based contents. Their costing can be estimated based on number of such pages you need on the website.

You can apply the costing formula given in above paragraph for this costing. Do not forget to add the cost for custom design of home page or the template here. It will be needed regardless of any programmable pages on your website.

Then comes the dynamic or data driven pages. For you to estimate this cost, I would recommend you estimate the size of database involved. This is little technical but if you apply some analytical skills you will get a close estimation done. Try to split the application into entities e.g. Customer can be treated as one entity. Consider if you were manually maintaining the database and writing the information on different notepads. How many notepads will you need if one notepad has similar information i.e. 1 notepad to maintain all customer information and 2nd to store all orders placed by your customers. If you can distinctly identify the number of logical entities your application will need, then half the work is done for estimation. You can consider an average of $100 for an individual entity in your application. Multiply with total number of entities and you’ve got the core database cost.

The next step is to determine the number and types of searched involved in the application. A simple search can cost you close to $100 and a more complex one close to $200. If the search results involve any filtering or sorting on the database then expect to pay more for it, in the range of $300 may be.

Next comes the reports in your application. A simple report can cost you around $50 and a more detailed report is generally close to $100. If you further like printing option or multiple browser compatibility then you might have to shed out $150-$200 for each report.

Last, there is an overall integration and implementation costs on the software in general. This involves multiple things like integration, testing, fine tuning. Application setup etc.

For a smaller applications, companies charge in the range of $300 – $500 for this. For bigger applications (which has huge databases with multiple searches and reports) the costs go up in the range of $500 – $1500 or even higher for large scale applications.

If you add individual pieces of information that your application will comprise then you will get a fair idea about estimations on your web application.

At the end of the day, the cost is always governed by the basic principals of supply and demand. If the source from where you buy is in good demand and supply quality products then expect to pay higher than the market standards. On the other hand if the supply is low quality which is less in demand then you will see costs going down substantially from such sources.

PHP or PHP Hypertext Preprocessor is a very powerful open source server side scripting language used for creating dynamic web pages. A Server side scripting language is a language that is read on the server side and not the client side. When a user accesses a web site written in PHP the web server will read the page and output HTML to the users web browser. HTML is different than PHP in that HTML is a client side language, when a user requests an HTML page the web server simply send the text in the HTML page to the users browser which then formats that page based on the HTML. MySQL is also a free open source software the is used to create databases that are used primarily by web servers. The My stands for the name of the co-founders daughter, My while the SQL stands for structured Query Language.

Mixing PHP and MySQL together in a website will give you unlimited possibilities of what you can produce. One little problem with developing websites in PHP is that since it is a server side scripting language you have to open the page from a web server to view it properly. Unlike HTML where you can save an HTML document on your desktop and then view it from there, PHP needs that server interaction to view properly. The good news is most web hosting companies provide PHP and MySQL for a pretty cheap cost to the users.

So think of the possibilities that we have by using a dynamic scripting language like PHP and a stable open source database like MySQL. When I first learned PHP and MySQL my first thought was that by using PHP and a MySQL I could create a website that could contain thousands of pages but only three actual pages. So in terms of updating a Web Site design using PHP and MySQL would be a huge time saver.

With most web hosting where you have your hosting and MySQL databases together it makes it very easy to connect to the MySQL database to extract information or even insert information. So lets say that we have a database called “mysite” and the table in “mysite” called “mypages” and it is formated like the following:

ID | Title | Page |

So we have three fields in the table “mypages” which is in the database “mysite” and currently we do not have anything in this table it is just an empty table. So now we want to add something to this table using PHP and we will start at the beginning by connecting to the database and the table so we can INSERT information into the table.

First to connect to a MySQL database server we need to use the mysql_connection statement and give the server all the required information:

mysql_connect(server address, username, password);

Now we are going to save this statment to a variable so that we can use it over and over again.

$conn = mysql_connect(’localhost’, ‘mike’, ‘mikenetpc’);

Next we need to select the database within the server.

mysql_select_db(’mysite’);

So we have successfully connected to our database server and we have successfully selected the database we want to use. Lets now add some information to the table ‘mypages’ within the database ‘mysite’. To do this we are going to use the mysql_query command along with the SQL INSERT command.

mysql_query(”INSERT INTO mypages (ID, Title, Page) VALUES (1, ‘Home Page’, “This is my home page, Welcome’)”);

Now we have inserted a single row into the table ‘mypages’ lets add another one.

mysql_query(”INSERT INTO mypages (ID, Title, Page) VALUES(2, ‘About Page’, ‘ This page is about me’)”);

We have successfully added two rows of information into our table but what good is this information if we can get it out of the table to display on a website. To extract the information from the table we will pull out all of the information and then create a loop to display it all. This is actually a lot easier than it my sound because we are going to extract the information we want into an array for easier handling. To get data from the table we will use the mysql_query command again and the SELECT command. I will write the entire piece of code and then I will explain it a little further down.

$result = mysql_query(”SELECT * FROM mypages);

while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result))

{

echo $row['ID'].”
“;

echo $row['Title'].”
“;

echo $row['Page'].”
“;

echo ”
;

}

We have already explained the first line, it SELECTS everything from the ‘mypages’ table of the database and places it into an array called $results. Next the create a while loop that will continue until we have reached the end of the array. Each time the loop occurs we move forward another line in the array so we will be displaying everything. Next we use the command echo which tells the server to display the information to the browser. So the statement echo $row['ID'].”
“; will display the ID number of where we are in the array and then will display a
command to the web browser which is line break. The output of the above code would look like this.

1
Home Page
This is my home page, Welcom

2
About Page
This page is about me

So we have now successfully written to our database and we have successfully pulled information from our database. Those simple commands are the very basics of PHP and MySQL. Each of this commands has quite a few more attributes to them that you can use to sort all the information the table or even just pull out a single record from the table.

At the time of this article for $3.21 a month Cheap as Dirt Hosting offered web hosting with PHP, MySQL, EMail and MySQL database manager. You can probably see from this very basic example that you could create an entire dynamic website using information stored in a database. If you have and questions or need any help please feel free to post something here.
